Paddy Power Casino

Paddy Power CasinoUpdate to this article, October 2011: Paddy Power has now moved the IGT games to the PaddyPower Games site and added a Playtech Casino as their main offering. This review still remains accurate although the Paddy Power Casino Review at OCUK (written in 2010) may also be of interest.

September, 2008: I’ve recently been trying my luck at Paddy Power casino (Bonus: 100% up to £101), so I thought I’d share my findings…obviously with a slots focus as those are the games I play.

Gotta admit, I’ve always had a soft spot for Paddy Power, mainly because they do some amusing and sometimes plain weird promos. In fact they are responsible for my all time favourite banner – for the Cleopatra slot, one of my favourites in fact. The tagline? “The most fun you can have with a dead chick!”. It tickled me, so here I am. Actually, Cleo is an excellent slot, converted to online play by IGT and recently followed up with the not quite so good Cleopatra II. Although the latter does offer more potential for huge wins in the free spins bonus it should be said.

Cleo I is lowish variance, has the 15 free spins bonus and is probably my favourite slot at Paddypower. Closely followed by the excellent Wolf Run – another IGT Vegas slot that I’ve played offline on several occassions. It has the “stacked wild” feature, and while you only get 5 free spins in the bonus, the reels change to include more wilds…it’s reviewed on this site anyway if you want more.

The range of slots at Paddy Power could be improved, but then it is relatively newish sofware (provided by Wagerworks). It’s also Flash-only, which has the advantage of not having to wait for a mega-download, but on the other hand doesn’t feel quite the same. I like it anyway, so what the hell.

One thing I do  like about the casino is that there is no cashout delay. When you cashout, you can no longer access that money, so it stops you chasing your losses which let’s face it, most of us slot junkies do at one point or another and invariably leaves us feeling annoyed. Cashing out is a little restrictive in that you have to cashout using the method you used to depsoit, but as a UK resident, at least the money is in my bank acount (I use a debit card) within 2 working nights. I believe the Neteller option happens same day, but I wasn’t able o test it as per the above restriction.

The “table games” at Paddy Power are OK – perhaps not as varied as the Microgaming casinos like 32Red and Ladbrokes, but not bad. I’m not really a great Blackjack, Roulette or card game fan to be fair, so I’m not the best person to judge, but service is good and that’s a big plus for me…along with cashout speeds.

As far as slots go, the 3 previously mentioned aside, there are some other cool free spins slots I play regularly: the Elvis slot is excellent (there are two actually), 50,00 Pyramid and the very similar Captain Quid’s Treasure Chest are cool, and Vegas Baby also does the free spins thing. Actually, while not my favourite slot, Davinci Diamonds is very popular and again a slot that you can find all over Vegas and Macau in land casinos.

Worth noting that Paddy Power doesn’t accept players from the USA, Germany and Italy (among others) and while Canadians can play, depositing may be tricky. UK players however are fine and I’d definitely recommend taking a look at Paddy Power Casino if you get time and like something different.
