Virgin Casino Mobile (for Android & iPhone users)
Having only just recently written about casino apps launching from the likes of 32Red on android and iPhone devices, Virgin casino has announced it has launched it’s mobile offering too.
Like 32Red, the Virgin Mobile casino uses games from Microgaming’s (iSpin3) platform right now but unlike 32Red the Virgin creation differs in that it is written as a web app, meaning that it won’t be available as an “app” in the true mobile sense of the word but as a browser-based mobile casino that any user with an android or iOS device can play.
Virgin has stated that while the mobile casino launches with Microgaming slots and table games (Roulette, Blackjack, Thunderstruck and more) they fully intend to add games from other providers through 2012 and on-going. This will undoubtely include popular IGT slots like “Cleopatra” which are currently available to play in the main Virgin casino offering.
Certainly designing the mobile casino as a web app that allows casino games to be played on Android phones and tablets, iPhones and iPads as well as via any browser-enabled mobile device seems to make a lot of sense to me. It’s all about portability
Footnote: I wrote a full review of Virgin’s main browser-based casino in Summer 2011 that can be found on the Slots UK website. I’ve been a player at Virgin pretty much since they first launched back around 2006 and their service and games have been excellent over that time.
