Slot Tournaments .netHot on the heels of the new Slot Tournaments from Microgaming (MG) is a new concept - the “Freestyle Slot Tournament“. While the new MG built-in slot tournaments have certain features, the freestyle tournaments allow the player more freedom and choice over the games and style of play, and offer larger monthly prizes rather than regular small ones. Don’t forget to check out my article on their new Freeroll Slot Tournaments either!

While the regular MG slot tournaments only allow the player (at present) to play on the Thunderstruck or Tombraider slots and keep to strict 5 minute competitions, the Freestyle tournaments take a different approach. Based on wagering, with 1 point allocated for every dollar wagered, the player can play at any of the MG slots at one of the allocated casinos at any time throughout the month. The points are accumulated and the Top 10 players are awarded prizes.

Another difference is in the number of players - because the competitions are exclusive to Slot Tournaments .net, there are far less players than the regular 500-1,000 players competing in the regular freeroll slot tournaments and more options than in the regular buy-in tournaments. Prizes award up to $300 or more for first place - the more players there are, the more likely the prize-money will increase - and there are 10 prize placings per tourney, again this is likely to increase as the tournaments grow in popularity.

The players can view the Tournament Leaderboard in real-time via the Slot Tournaments website throughout the month and play accordingly.

The Freestyle Slot Tournaments add an element of skill to slot tournies in that the player is free of slot and bet-size restrictions so they can choose their slot and play at different bet-sizes to increase their wagering opportunities. Also, the organisers allow the players to take and use a sign-up bonus in the tournaments.
