New Novomatic Casino – Review

If like me, you frequent UK or European land-based casinos regularly, it probably won’t have escaped your attention how many Novomatic Gaminator machines there are now. The reasons I assume are two-fold: firstly the games are a bit of a cult in certain countries and secondly, in countries where space or licences limit the number of machines available, the Gaminators being multi-game machines means a casino can offer more choice in less space.

Following on from that increase in exposure it seems natural that Novomatic slots should start to become more prolific online but until recently, that hasn’t really been the case with their slots being limited to 3 or 4 casinos. In 2012 however, we have seen a few more Novomatic games being licenced by bigger brands like Sky Vegas and Grosvenor Casino for their online websites and now we have a new kid on the block – OVO Casino – which is practically a Gaminator machine in itself!

Strictly speaking OVO casino isn’t new. It is actually a skin of Quasar Gaming which was launched earlier in 2012 although the staff I have talked to say OVO Casino is independently operated. That may indeed be the case but at first glance you could be forgiven for thinking it was Quasar with a different design.

The games choice is the same – very good if you like your Novomatic games but not so hot on table games – the bonus is the same (200 euros as I write), the cashout process is the same (48hours pending time and the same templates), even  OVO Casino’s Terms & Conditions appear the same and quote Quasar Gaming as the company with whom you have the contract.

The bottom line is, even if we assume OVO Casino is actually Quasar, that they run a pretty decent operation. I’ve played at both and I have no doubt that OVO is simply a white label but I have been ID’ed, cashed out and been through all the processes that Quasar have to offer before now and although I don’t like the reverse pending time at any online casino – it’s just a bit of a con in my opinion, despite the justifications of security checks and saving on processing costs – I have to say that it does what it says on the tin.

Of course, it’s always hard to say that a new operation will survive the rigours of what is currently a challenging economic environment but if you assume that the operation is legit, which personally I am inclined to do based on Quasar’s limited but decent enough history to date and the Maltese licence – as ineffective as the LGA are when it comes to facing up to problems – helps to at least show the company has it’s wits about it and is doing things the right way. Not like a Costa Rican licence for example which is a fancy way of saying ‘unlicenced’!

As for the games themselves then if you know Novomatic slots you will have a field day at OVO: Lucky Lady’s Charm, Dolphin’s Pearl, Book Of Ra Deluxe, Sizzling Hot Deluxe (free-play Sizzling Hot Deluxe), Katana, Reel King and many more well-known games are all here and they all play exactly like their Gaminator-based counterparts. They are all volatile games as I am sure you know so you get the long, lean periods but you also get some fantastic bonus features.

Overall I’d hesitate to say that OVO Casino is a “must-play” casino because it’s new and the cashouts are slower than one expects these days but if you are a fan of Novomatic games and want the full range then, MyBet Casino aside who have very limited acceptance policies, I can’t think of a better option right now. A few casinos have maybe a handful of Novomatic slots – Sky Vegas, Grosvenor Casino and BetVictor’s Spinroom come to mind but not the range you see here. Star Games is another option. Their Novomatic games choice is huge – even bigger than OVO Casino – but their support response times and cashout times are very, very slow. Over a week in some cases. A full list of Novomatic casinos is available here.

So OVO casino has to be a decent option for players as long as you are aware that you are playing a new casino with very limied track record.
