Microgaming Slots: May Releases: ARIANA and BIG CHEF

If you play at Microgaming-powered casinos then you’ll find 2 new games have been added. Sit down before reading the next sentence! Neither of them are 243-way slots! In keeping with recent releases by other software they are 25 and 15 pay-lines respectively.

Ariana Slot: Microgaming

Ariana is a simple ocean-themed game with expanding Ariana symbols if the stacked one fills all of reel 1 – should this initiate a winning combination of 3 reels or more, the others matching will expand too.

There is a re-triggerable bonus round of 15 free games triggered by 3 scatters, the starfish. The only difference in the free games is that the wilds become expanding too. The only pitfall is, don’t shout if you get a full screen as this low-medium variance slot only pays 250x for a maximum screen. Microgaming seem to have gone down the Net-Ent route with this game. If you want colossal wins for 4 or 5 reels of wilds, stick with Immortal Romance, Playboy and Jurassic Park. I could liken the overall play in terms of returns to Starburst .

Big Chef Slot: Microgaming

I feel far more optimistic for the fare offered by our Big Chef. Despite the annoying stereotypical ‘French Accordion’ style music this 15-line game has a bit more going for it. You have ‘rising dough’ sticky wilds which don’t multiply in the bonus games. There is a double free spins round in this game. Firstly a special symbol on reel 5 gives one free game. Any wilds will stick until they have risen up 3 rows and the reels will keep on spinning until they disappear, accumulating wins. Therefore you want to see them landing on the bottom row, as they will rise a row at a time and thus stay for 2 more spins. This respin feature can pay quite lucratively.

3 scatters provides 10 free spins which cannot be retriggered. You get a 2x multiplier and any Rising Dough wilds stick until they disappear off of the top row. This reminds me a little of the ‘Untamed’ Microgaming slot bonus rounds. This game is higher in variance than Ariana at med-high with some big hits possible. If you have played 15-line Game Of Thrones you may see a similarity in how Big Chef pays.

So, it seems we have a quite mediocre wagering-requirement ‘burner’ in Ariana and a slot with decent hit-potential in Big Chef. Neither game sets slotting alight, but at least you aren’t tied to the All-Pays 243-way system.

If you would like to explore both games further, then the Slots Comparer site has every detail of both Ariana and Big Chef including RTP and casinos that have the games.
