High Variance Slots

High variance slot games are high risk. You will find long mean periods where it seems that the slot is rigged, when in fact it’s just that it’s programmed to be high variance. The plus side is that every now and again you will hit a monster win. The down side is that you will probably need a sizable bankroll to ride out the mean streaks. In general, the expected return will be higher than low-medium variance slots, but so is the “risk of ruin” (risk of running out of cash first!). Play these only if you are loaded, or like an adrenaline shot but can take bankruptcy too! The ISIS slot is a great example of high variance. You can go weeks with virtually nothing, but like happened to me in 2007, you can suddenly hit just shy of $50,000 from a $12 spin (I got 5 scatters in the free spins for 600x with a 6x multiplier)!!

Immortal Romance Bet Limits (£60 Max Bet)

Immortal Romance SlotUpdated 27th May, 2015. If, like me, you tend to be something or a medium/high roller slots player then one of the most annoying things about the Immortal Romance slot is that it often comes with a low maximum bet limit of £6 (or euros). This is because the Wild Desire feature has the potential to make 5 reels wild and pay out a shedload of coins.

In fact, if you look at the screenshot I have added to this article, you will see one such example!

So if you are looking for casinos that have higher bet limits, here is the rule of thumb as I write (in May 2015).

I’ve played at Bet365 for years and it is the best place for high roller Immortal Romance players that I have found (the game is found on the  bet365 Games tab) who have a £60 max bet option. That’s slightly surprising actually because Bet365 isn’t a “dedicated’ Microgaming casino, nor does it offer the game as a download and it is usually those casinos that have the higher limits. It has a range of games by Microgaming, Playtech, IGT and WMS but is renowned for having higher bet limits across it’s games.

They are not quite alone in offering that size of bet on Immortal Romance however. A while back, 2 casinos I used to play before the UK was banned from playing there, the dedicated Microgaming Casinos Crazy Vegas and Golden Riviera Casino also had £60 limits but I can’t check that anymore so whether it is still the case or not I have no idea.

Cleopatra 2 Slot – From Vegas To Your Living Room!

Cleopatra2 Online SlotWagerworks this week released the new version of the popular Cleopatra slot – the originally titled, “Cleopatra 2″ – into their online casino software (Flash based, no-download). Virgin Casino are the first to get it (as usual) and by the time you read this it will also be available at Paddy Power Games and Blue Square casinos. But there’s bad news for Americans: Wagerwoks casinos do not accept US Players. Blame your “we-know-best” Republicans for that piece of legislation passed in 2006! Or get your own back and play the free version of Cleopatra 2 here.

But for the rest of us. YAY! Any slot fan who has been to Las Vegas or Macau will probably have seen this one on the floor already. It’s an IGT slot and crops up at most places in Vegas along with a few of the more recent casinos over in Macau (I played it at the Venetian on the Cotai Strip – a truly awesome place). If you haven’t seen the Cleopatra II slot in real life yet then

Isis Online Slot Review [Microgaming]

Isis Slot

Isis is not a slot for the faint-hearted! It’s a high variance slot from Microgaming with a lot of small-paying symbols and the occasional monster, along with a potentially lucrative free spins bonus round offering up to 30 spins at 6x multiplier. The slot was developed in 2005 by Microgaming and has become a real “love it or hate it” slot on the forums. Me? I’m a high variance fan, so I love it – well, like it a lot to be more accurate – but it can be a real bastard at times.
